About the Cover Letter Generator
Most cover letters fail on structure rather than prose: they open weakly, never state what the applicant actually brings, and end without asking for anything. This tool assembles a letter with that structure already in place — a specific opening, a paragraph tying your experience to the role's requirements, a paragraph on why this employer, and a close.
Four tones are available: Professional, Enthusiastic, Concise and Formal. They change sentence length, opening line and register rather than swapping synonyms, so the difference is real rather than cosmetic. Pick the one that matches the sector — Formal for law or academia, Concise for startups that ask for brevity.
The draft is a starting point, not a finished letter. It is fully editable in the page before you export, and it is built only from details you enter — it does not invent achievements, employers or dates you did not provide.
How to use it
- Enter your name, the role title, and the company you are applying to.
- Add two or three specific things you bring — a relevant achievement, a matching skill, a reason you want this particular employer.
- Choose a tone. Professional suits most applications; use Concise where the posting asks for brevity and Formal for traditional sectors.
- Generate the draft, then edit it directly in the page. Replace anything generic with something only you could have written.

Does this use AI to write the letter?
No. It assembles a letter from a set of structured templates using the details you enter. That is a deliberate choice: it cannot hallucinate an achievement or a former employer, because it only ever uses what you typed.
How long should a cover letter be?
One page, and usually three to four short paragraphs. Recruiters skim, so anything past a page tends to go unread. The Concise tone targets the shorter end of that range.
Should I edit the draft?
Yes, always. The structure is sound but the specifics are what make a letter persuasive. Replace at least the opening line and the reason-for-this-employer paragraph with something specific to you and them.
